Seiffener Nutcracker 9cm
This little hussar brings the Erzgebirge woodturning tradition to your home in a pocket-sized format. His hussar hat, epaulettes, and the row of buttons on his uniform coat give him his face, while his belt and boots complete the look. At just 9 cm tall, nothing is left to chance; the hand-painted details are meticulously applied, from his blue eyes to his mustache. The figure is turned from locally sourced wood.
This little fellow is crafted in the workshop of the Seiffen Folk Art Cooperative (Seiffener Volkskunst eG). The cooperative was founded in 1958 when 13 craftsmen joined forces in the spa town of Seiffen. Since 1959, you've been able to watch the work being done in their own demonstration workshop, and your nutcracker, a recognized original from the Ore Mountains, comes from this very workshop.
